Plano Republican Women

Caring for America

Patriot Paws

Christmas Cops is a program operated by Plano Police employees to assist Plano families in need during the Christmas Season and throughout the year.

Collection boxes are placed at numerous local businesses, fire stations, libraries, and city facilities to collect toys, food, new coats, and miscellaneous household items. Shortly before Christmas (or when a need arises), Plano Officers and Santa's Helpers make deliveries to these families.

To participate bring a new unwrapped toy - or toys - to the designated PRW meetings.

Brown Bag Project

Caring for America

Operation Cards For Troops

In October, November and December of 2021, Plano Republican Women held a school supply drive, aka the Brown Bag Project. Supplies were donated to a PISD, Title 1, elementary school. Title 1 schools are those with a high “percentage of students receiving free or reduced cost meals and students that have demonstrates\d a need for services.” “…Students generally receive (supplementary) instruction in small groups of ten or less by a highly qualified teacher.  PISD states a strong component of Title 1 schools is that “Each campus works with families to support student success…”

PRW provided:
18 pounds of Crayola crayons                                 10 pounds of Glue Sticks
10 pounds of Wood Pencils with Erasers                   44 pounds of Assorted Color Construction Paper
9 pounds of Crayola Washable Markers                    10 pounds of Watercolor Paints with Brushes
6 pounds of Large pink Erasers                               36 pounds of Facial Tissues

145 pounds! PRW Members were proud to come in alongside staff, teachers, and students to help them successfully finish out the academic year. The Forman Elementary staff were appreciative of our contributions. THANK YOU for your generous donations. Members delivering the supplies were Cathie Alexander, Caring for America Chair, Jessica Bartnick and Debby Arrant.

The National Federation of Republican Women

established the Caring for America program

based on the belief that problems can be solved most effectively through the generosity

and combined energies of individual citizens.

At PRW meetings, we have collected Christmas Cards, Fourth of July Cards and Valentine Cards to send to troops serving in Sinai, Egypt and Saudi Arabia, as well as veterans in homes and hospitals.

Throughout the year, we will continue to collect cards to send to troops who are serving our country and are unable to celebrate at home with their loved ones.

Please bring greeting cards completed with a signature and a short inspirational message to the PRW meetings. These will be collected and sent to the troops.

At every PRW meeting donations are

accepted for Patriot Paws.

The mission of Patriot Paws is to train and provide service dogs of the highest quality at no cost to disabled American veterans and others with mobile disabilities.

In March 2021, Plano Republican Women invited Patriot Paws to the March General Meeting.  President Jennifer Groysman presented a check to the organization to help them continue their valuable mission of assisting disabled American veterans.
